2016Exhibition Curation and Catalogue
Mentor Stephen Serrato
Traditionally, femme fatale is an archetype that describes a seductive woman who lures men into dangerous or compromising situations. Typically villainous, or at least morally ambiguous, these beautiful creatures are associated with mystery and unease that is created at a crossroad of difference, culturally and sexually. The exhibition will be re-defining what it means to be a femme fatale that is not necessarily "feminine".
The curated works will help viewers learn about the artists and their respective work through a narrative lens. It will be conducted in a multi-media fashion, focusing on six artists that in one way or another demonstrate femme fatale as objects of public infatuation that is both fascinating and dangerous —multimedia artist Sienna Reid, photographers Bill Ray, Elena Anosova, Jane Evelyn Atwood, and Boogie, as well as selected works from Alexander McQueen.
